"Break a Leg," they said...

Well, on August 13, while getting ready to perform in Edmonton, Canada, I broke the heck out of my ankle.
Two hours of surgery, two plates, an unknown number of screws, two nights in hospital, and two missed shows later I hobbled back to my host home.
Specifically, I broke the major 3 bones of my ankle at the joint in what the surgeon said was one of the worst breaks he'd ever seen. I can't put weight on it for 6 weeks. So it is wheelchair and crutches until October.
Thankfully, my good friend Vinny Cardinale has been here in Canada helping me in so many ways. I'm trying to continue to work, but it is exhausting. The cast is very old-school plaster, and heavy. The wheelchair I'm using now doesn't have support for that lame leg, so I had to hold it up. Great for the abs, I am told.
The show we're doing now fortunately allows me to sit much of the time. But it ends soon. How I'll do Cowboy Max and my other more 'zany' acts remains to be seen.
So it is likely I'll be losing income in a major way. And insurance is not among my 'haves' right now. So therapy, etc., back in California will be tricky to pay for.
So many of you have asked how you can help. First, stop saying "Break a leg" to actors! You know how we like to please you! Second, if you would like to make a donation to the official Shelby Bond rainy day fund, this is truly my rainy day. And no, I don't mean the kind everybody's hoping will end the heatwave.
You've asked how you can help me get back on my feet, well, since I can't stand on my own two feet right now, this is like an electronic pass the hat.
Or something like that.
Thanks, and good luck to you, my friend!
